Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Rana Ansar has said that he and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah have agreed on the name of former Supreme Court Judge Justice Maqbool Baqir for the caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh.

Speaking to the media after a meeting with the Sindh Chief Minister on Monday night, Rana Ansar from MQM said that Maqbool Baqir’s name was suggested by both the opposition and the government.

Rana Ansar said that Grand Democratic Party (GDA) was also consulted in the appointment of caretaker chief minister.

He further said that the MQM leadership had no objection to the name of Maqbool Baqir and the MQM leadership also approved his name.

On the other hand, speaking to the media outside the Chief Minister’s House, the former spokesperson of the provincial government and Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that today the Chief Minister and the opposition leader agreed on the name of Maqbool Baqir for the caretaker Chief Minister. According to him, the chief minister and the opposition leader have sent letters in this regard to the governor of Sindh.

According to Murtaza Wahab, the name of Justice Maqbool Baqir was suggested by the Sindh Chief Minister. After considering various names, the name of Justice Sahib has been agreed upon. And his ability, capacity, impartiality and character are beyond doubt.

Meanwhile, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir while talking to the private TV channel Geo News said that in the current unfavorable situation, the responsibility of the supervising ministry is very important. We will try for the supremacy of the constitution and the law.

In response to a question, he said that conducting elections is the job of the Election Commission and the caretaker government will help the commission.

It should be noted that after the dissolution of the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies of Sindh and Balochistan, the process of establishing caretaker governments is going on.

At the Centre, Anwarul Haq Kakar was sworn in as the Caretaker Prime Minister on Monday and is expected to announce the Caretaker Cabinet by tomorrow.

However, no name has been agreed between the outgoing Chief Minister and the opposition leader in Balochistan.

A meeting between the Chief Minister and the opposition leader was scheduled in Islamabad between Monday and Tuesday. After the meeting, no declaration has come out yet, nor has any name for the chief minister been revealed by the parties.
